Safety Policies

We have many safety policies you must follow, as safety is our top priority. Here are our current policies

  • Wear required safety gear.
  • No pets, even if on leash.
  • Walk single file when possible.
  • Do not assume drivers see you.
  • Face oncoming traffic when possible.
  • Do not remove litter from driving lanes.
  • Keep guardrails between you and the road if possible.
  • Do not wear headphones, ear plugs, listen to music, or talk on the phone (unless reporting an emergency) during cleanup on roadside.
  • Do not use alcohol or other mind-altering substances before cleanup.
  • Beware of hazardous insects, stray or wild animals, and hazardous or thorny plants (e.g., ground-nesting wasps and Giant Hogweed).
  • Avoid overexertion and heat-related problems by drinking water and taking breaks.
  • Do not play around, roughhouse, or distract drivers.
  • Do not clean over or climb down steep ditches or slopes.
  • Do not stand on guardrails, pipes, or walls.
  • Do not enter construction or utility work zones.
  • Do not enter areas with abandoned or occupied homeless encampments.
  • Stay on public property and roads. On roads, don’t go beyond the back of the ditch.
  • Call 911 and immediately report to Isaac if you see missing signs that have an imminent threat (e.g. stop signs), road debris that can cause a crash, traffic collisions, spills of chemical or hazardous liquids, firearms, explosives, contraband, or waste from drug manufacturing. If you just found one of these and nobody is in imminent harm, call 360-328-7711 and report it to them.
  • If there is any safety issue (person, object, etc.) that is not bad enough to call 911, let Isaac know.
